Schwob students take five First Prizes, more honors at MTNA Georgia competition

Here are the impressive results for CSU Schwob students in the 2018 state MTNA competitions. Congratulations one and all!

Brass

        Camron Bryant, horn, from the studio of Dr. Natalie Higgins, won First Place in the Alabama MTNA Young Artist Division, and will advance to the regional competition.
         
        Lucas Testin, horn, from the studio of Dr. Natalie Higgins, received an Honorable Mention in the Young Artist Division.

Composition

        Zachary McDonald, from the studio of Dr. James Ogburn, won First Place and will advance to the regional competition.

        Giuseppe Gallo-Balma, from the studio of Dr. James Ogburn, was named Alternate Winner.

Piano 

       Juan Collazos, from the studio of Dr. Henry Kramer, was named Alternate Winner in the Young Artist Division.

Strings

         Samuel Vargas, violin, from the studio of Prof. Sergiu Schwartz, won First Place in the Young Artist Division and will advance to the regional competition.

         Anna Gribkova, violin, from the studio of Prof. Sergiu Schwartz, was named Alternate Winner in the Young Artist Division.

         Passacaglia Mason, violin, from the studio of Prof. Sergiu Schwartz, was named Alternate Winner in the Senior Division.

         Teu-In Kim, cello, from the studio of Prof. Wendy Warner, received an Honorable Mention in the Young Artist Division.

         Ireh Lee, viola, from the studio of Dr. Katrin Meidell, received an Honorable Mention in the Young Artist Division.

Voice

         Erica Humbert, from the studio of Prof. Earl Coleman, won First Place in the Young Artist DIvision and will advance to the regional competition.

         Aurora "Rory" Manley, from the studio of Prof. Earl Coleman, won First Place in the Senior DIvision and will advance to the regional competition.

Woodwinds

        Maggie Archer, flute, from the studio of Dr. Andrée Martin, was named Alternate Winner in the Young Artist Division. 

        The Schwob Saxophone Quartet, from the studio of Dr. Joe Girard [Kirk Habana (soprano), Jared Cummings (alto), JT Lonzanida (tenor), and Mary Katherine McClung (baritone)], received an Honorable Mention in the Chamber Music Division.
