Voice Students Win, Place in Five Categories at Georgia NATS Auditions

Students Win Four First Prizes at MTNA State Competition

Students of the Schwob School of Music stood out among their peers from across Georgia in playing solo recitals in the Senior and Young Artist Competitions of  the Music teachers National Association (MTNA) at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville Oct. 20-21.

CSU's first-prize winners in their categories were:

Clarinetist Manuel Antonio Ramos wins position in the West Point band

Clarinetist Manuel Antonio Ramos--a 2013 graduate of Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music and a 2015 graduate of Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music--has won a position as clarinetist with the West Point Concert Band.  The West Point Band is the Army’s oldest musical organization and continues to provide world-class music to educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets and to serve as ambassadors of the United States Military Academy and the Army to local, national, and international communities. Its innovative programs and performances are enjoyed across the globe through regular television, radio, and recordings. Many band members hold graduate degrees from the world’s finest music schools and all have earned substantial professional musical achievements prior to serving their country as professional musicians. The organization fulfills more than 1600 official missions annually, including military and patriotic ceremonies, public concerts, parades, professional and collegiate sporting events, internet, radio and television broadcasts, and numerous ceremonies and special events for the Corps of Cadets, the West Point community, New York City, and the broader area of the northeastern United States.

Manuel joins Schwob School graduate Philip Broome, who has held the euphonium position in the West Point Band since 2012. Congratulations!
