CSU Guitarists Win in Louisville, Florida Guitar Competitions

Present and former students of Dr. Andrew ZohnThe Jo and George Jeter Distinguished Chair in Guitar, took first place in two competitions this fall.

CSU freshman Fangfang Liu was awarded first prize in the Youth Division of the Florida Guitar Competition in October, and CSU alumnus Noe Garcia won second prize in the Open Division. Noe is a doctoral student at the University of North Texas.

Andrew Wilder, B.M. 2016, won first place in the 2017 University of Louisville Guitar Competition, Solo Artist Division. Andrew began graduate studies this fall at the University of Kentucky.

CSU is not a newcomer at the Louisville competition. The first and fourth place awards last year also went to students of Dr. Zohn. For more information on the competition, please visit http://louisville.edu/music/guitarfest

Boris Abramov CD Recognized with Global Music Awards Silver Medal

Congratulations to Boris Abramov, Lecturer in Violin, for being awarded a Global Music Awards Silver Medal for his upcoming Mozart & Beethoven Violin and Cello Duets CD! Founded by Thomas Baker, Ph.D., who has more than a dozen years in film and music and created the Accolade Competition, Indie Fest and the Best Shorts Competition, the Global Music Awards has been recognizing outstanding recordings through a multi-layered judging process that evaluates listener impact, technical quality, uniqueness and styling.
